Training: Standard Poodles are extremely intelligent and easy to train, if you follow some basic principles. We help our new puppy owners with training via e-mail or personal visits to our home.

We believe these to be the Basic Principles:

1. Absolute Consistency - Puppies learn very quickly if the rules NEVER change. 

2. Praise and Treats - We all love rewards when we do well. We give treats for good behavior. Everyday treats get given after the dogs stay or sit or come when told. They get so excited - it is a fun game for them.

3. You must be the "top dog". This does not mean you are a bully. This means that your dog will feel safe and. He will not need to be in charge because he knows you are a strong leader who will look out for his welfare.

We provide a list of our favorite training methods when our pups go to their new homes.

 Grooming: It is not difficult to keep your dogs in good, healthy condition. You can take your dog to a good professional groomer or you can learn to do part or all of the grooming yourself. Mostly a good brushing between baths and haircuts will keep their coats looking beautiful.
